Let's Walk through the Christian Life Together

On today’s blog, I wanted to bring up a topic that I feel most teenagers and young adults go through at least once in their lifetime, and that is comparison. If you know me, you know my motto for years has been “You don’t have to be just like them” because the truth is, You CAN’T BE just like her. God didn’t make you just like them for a reason, and that’s just the hard truth. Trust me, I know what it’s like to be jealous of the girl in your class or Instagram feed that seems like she has it all together. Reality is you weren’t created to be them so you will always be the lesser version of her.

I keep up with Sadie Robertson through her podcasts, Instagram, and her books. One thing that she says very often is “You are the ORIGINAL.” When God thinks of you, he thinks of you as your original self, not a copy of anyone else. You were not meant to be the same, so trying every single day endlessly to be someone you were not CREATED to be will only make you more tired. Today, I want encourage to you that God did not make any any “less version,” only good versions of all things! This right here was the cure to my comparison era. “She’s so pretty. She has blue eyes. He’s so athletic. He’s very tall.” Yes they do, because that’s how our Father created them. Don’t feel bad you are not them because you were made by the same God! 

Now, let’s go a little deeper because that’s what we’re all here for, right? When God created the whole world, he looked at it and said “It is good.” Not “okay” not “less than” not “average”. God said it is GOOD! We are okay with the fact the ocean is good. The sun is good. Creation is good. When it comes to us, it’s now questionable that something is better. Isn’t that weird? This week, I encourage each you to read Psalm 139:13-16. When reading, remember that David was compared to his brothers so much, yet he knew that he was fearfully and wonderfully made. In fact, he said he knew that “full well!” I challenge you to pray for this mindset and let your heart know your worth FULL WELL!
