If you know me, you know that I procrastinate most everything in life, so I didn’t pick my word of the year until the middle of February. I wanted it to be good and something I could apply to my life all year. If you haven’t picked one yet, I challenge you to do so this week, because it has been so encouraging to me and my prayer life.
My word of the year for 2022 is “rest”, and I don’t mean “rest” as in naps, although I love those. When I say ‘rest”, I mean taking a deep breath and letting God do all the dirty work. This inspired through the song “Rest on Us” by Maverick City. ALL stress and anxiety goes away in the name of Jesus, and I have been learning how to rest in that. God will move and work in powerful ways when we call on his name. Sometimes, it is our job to sit back and worship Jesus even if we are worried. Are you wore out from trying to make everything perfect in your life? Well, I have good news for you. Jesus has ALREADY paid it all!
The Bible says in Matthew, Chapter 11, verses 28, 29 and 30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Take this message with you as encouragement to let God rest on you. Thank you for following along with me as I think out loud about the Christian Walk! Feel free to contact me; I would love to be your friend!
