This is Me

The word “testimony” has always scared me. Sharing my story to a mass of people was always something that I never volunteered to do. It wasn’t until I started to view the word “testimony” as simply what God has done in my life rather than a big churchy word that I began to share it. The Bible says that every believer’s testimony is powerful and joy to his Heart, so that is enough for me.

I would like to begin by sharing a little bit about me for the readers that do not personally know me. I am from a small town in Louisiana and my parents have had me in church since the day I was born. Church was kind of like school to me; you always just go, never miss, and never ask questions. From a young age, I fell in love with church and the atmosphere I was in when I was there. I am here today to tell you that it is NOT enough just to love church. It is great to enjoy your routine with the Lord, but it is only through a personal relationship that you truly know Him and his heart.

When I was around 12, I went on my first mission trip to the Yucatan with my youth group. Because I was the youngest student going by a long shot, I was extremely nervous but eager to see what God had in line for my week. My youth pastor pushed me out of my comfort zone one particular day and asked me to share my testimony on the streets in front of around a thousand people. I remember when I was speaking that I had this peace over me that I can not explain. I always knew God loved me, but I understood at this moment exactly how much.  I decided at 12 years old that I wanted to devote my life to ministry, and I wanted to share the good news to everyone I encountered.

Now, I am 18, and I have experienced a lot of good and bad times since then. However, the love God has for me has never changed, and I have a desire to give that out like never before. Recently, God has taught me how important it is to surround yourself with people that will encourage you and only lift you up. I am proud to say that my friends speak only life in me and I am grateful for them every day. I would like to challenge you this week to be vulnerable and share your story to at least one person because even if you can not see it, God is using you.

Thank you for following along with me as I think out loud about the Christian Walk! Feel free to contact me; I would love to be your friend!
